My wife and I dined here on 31st October, the food was excellent and there is plenty of it. The attention and service we received from Nicola and Sam was very professional, friendly and helpful. There had been a very well attended Halloween party for children in the afternoon and the staff had a right to be tired but they continued to serve with a smile. Also be sure the beer is clear and sparkling and the wine well kept. We will eat here again Thanks to all of you.
Staff couldn't do enough to help. We had Sunday dinner for 4 adults, 1 young child - quality of meat & vegetables was very good. Definitely will go back & recommend to family & friends.
Today we decided to try the Travellers Rest for Sunday lunch, 5 adults and 2 children, it's walking distance from where my son and daughter lives in Witton Gilbert, and I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed it, it was superb , the staff get 10 out of 10 too, they couldn't do enough for us. Well done, we will be back xx We will certainly be returning.
Booked on line for new year eve (afternoon). Staff welcomed us and despite how busy it was, they were attentive and pleasant throughout. Food excellent both portions and quality - served attractively. Quality of drinks excellent - able to get everything we wanted. Good parking at back and disabled bay at front (all on the flat). Strongly recommend a visit - we will return soon. Great to have this pub so close to home.
The newly refurbished pub looks fantastic . It has a warm cosy feel to it . The service was top notch and the food was delicious . We will definitely be returning and recommending to others.
Credit where credit is due. What a fantastic difference to this village pub and restaurant. We moved to Witton Gilbert a couple of years ago and just living along the road we regularly visited The Travellers Rest for a drink and a meal. Throughout this time we saw the Travellers rest start to slip down hill due to changing managers / owners and staff. Due to this decline we decided to venture elsewhere for meals and drinks. We have witnessed this pub / restaurant change hands and management over time, but with no effect on the pub itself so had basically written it off as a place to visit even though it is on our doorstep. After we noticed the Travellers was getting refurbished and was now under new ownership / management we decided to give it another go…… Wow are we glad we did! What a fantastic transformation to the whole look, feel and atmosphere of what was a very cold and dreary pub! We visited the pub today 17/12/14 and was greeted by friendly staff and a warm atmosphere and lovely warm fires. My wife and myself both had a meal from the menu along with drinks. Both the meal and drinks were served promptly and professionally and were fantastic! As a business owner myself I can now see this pub / restaurant is now finally in the right hands. I would not hesitate to recommend "The Travellers Rest” to anyone looking for a warm welcoming pub / restaurant. I would also like to wish you and your staff the very best for the future of what is now a fantastic place to be. FIVE STARS ALL ROUND.
Took the family out for sunday lunch at the newly refurbished travellers rest. food, service and staff were excellent. Would definitely recommend to family and friends :) Cant wait to go next sunday
First time we have visited the Travellers Rest and what a great find it was. The decor is great having recently been refurbished to a high standard. We were welcomed by staff who took us to our seats. The food was fantastic, could not fault it. We will certainly be back, many thanks.
